He cuts all ties with his old lover and pursues her ceaselessly, pleading remorsefully for reconciliation, yet he can never win back Elara's affections. In the end, Elara embraces a new life of happiness and lives in quiet companionship with Iasion. The once lofty God of Wealth is left to pay an everlasting price for his own coldhearted cruelty.
